Erica + Erik | Ronald Reagan Building wedding

Kristiaan and I are always suckers for great moments with parents. We also love a great reception with crazy dancing. Erica and Erik's wedding gave us that and so much more. I was immediately drawn to Erik's connection with his dad but equally found warm fuzzy moments throughout the day with all the parents. Their day was very relaxed, full of laughter which included a huge and super fun bridal party. After E+E's sweet first look we had an amazing portrait session with them, we were impressed by how little direction they needed and how much elegance and sweet they gave us to capture.

Their ceremony was held in the Pavilion Room of the Reagan building and were literally surrounded by all their guests. Afterwards the cocktail hour set the mood with hugs, laughs and of course cocktails. The rest of the evening was perfect and ended with more portraits on Pennsylvania ave and an after party at the Hamilton.

Angela + Kevin | Carlyle Club Wedding

Kevin and Angela are our new besties! We have many fun things in common from music (Prince and Outkast) to tattoos, video games, movies and food! Since our first meeting we've had several couple dates and even got invited to their company holiday party. We just knew their wedding day was going to be a blast and it did not disappoint. They started their day  at the luxurious Westin Alexandria where the guys played video game and drank whiskey while the girls laughed and relaxed. The ceremony and reception was held at the newly located Carlyle Club. Their day was filled with laughter, a few tears, but mostly laughter and sweet moments. They tore up the dance floor and towards the end of the night (2nd to last image) was one of our and Angela's favorite moments. The image of her closest people celebrating on the dance floor with them summed up the day for all of us.

Sarah + Jon | Cylburn Arboretum wedding

Sarah and Jon simply had a phenomenal day. 

We feel fortunate we were lucky enough to tell their story through our images. We go on and on about great families, friends and moments but these two truly nailed it. We were excited and impressed when we saw them walk down the aisle together, there was something reassuring about it. Kristiaan and I found ourselves loving each and every interaction with their parents and grandparents throughout the day. Just look below to see what we mean. One of our favorite parts of the day was when Jon's dad serenaded them, with harmonica + guitar, instead of just giving a toast. We laughed and cried along with the rest of the guests throughout the toasts and were pleasantly surprised by the fun and wild dancing for the remainder of the reception.

Brynn & Brooks | Glenview Mansion Wedding

A tropical storm is never idea for a wedding day. Especially when an outdoor ceremony is planned. However that didn't stop Brynn and Brooks from having one of the best days of their lives. Brynn's day started off at the Hilton Garden in with her bridesmaids and closest relatives. Brooks had the luxury of having his parents house for him and his guys to get ready. They each had equally sweet and fun moments and didn't concern themselves with the weather.

Their first look was nothing short of magical in the beautiful sun room balcony at Glenview Mansion. They read their vows to each other in a moment of privacy. We were fortunate enough to have the rain stop for about an hour in order to take their portraits outdoors. We felt privileged to be able to document so much love and fun between the two and their bridal party. The moments throughout the day that really pulled at our heart strings were with their parents, they each shared special tender exchanges or huge bursts of laughter that gave us warm happy feelings throughout.

Like all other Whitman (highschool) parties before theirs, the reception was nothing short of spectacular an insanely fun. Our wonderful associate Leah joined us for the reception and a few of her amazing images can be seen on the blog below.

Kristin + Herb | Celebrations at the Bay

We always love an offbeat or unconventional wedding and Kristin and Herb's did not disappoint. The energy of the day was just right, they had an awesome and fun bridal party to support them with a room full of guests that knew how to tear up the dance floor.

Even our day started off unconventionally. As we arrived to the hotel, we met a bridesmaid with a shirt that said "Team Kristin" who told us the room number and after about 5 minutes after arriving to the room we realized it was a different Kristin! At least we hadn't started taking pictures yet. Awkward to say the least but definitely have an interesting story to tell. Fortunately, the rest of the day made up for that awkward start :)
