Virginia + Derek | Stone Tower Winery Wedding

Derek is an author and Virginia is a fitness instructor. They have both overcome life threatening obstacles but found support, happiness and soul mates in each other.  They are so fun, animated and romantic when they are together, which makes them easy to photograph. 

This is not your typical wedding and we absolutely LOVE that.

Virginia wore dragon horns and a custom made wedding romper. She is also a former model and current fitness competitor so we were able to have a little more fun with portraits. The wedding party had custom made swords and daggers and thanks to Katie of Pure Whimsy Events the decorations were absolutely stunning and perfectly matched Virginia & Derek's vision. They were married at Stone Tower Winery on a gloomy Friday the 13th and this elegant goth wedding was full of love, happiness and good energy.

Sharon & Trieu | Rose Hill Manor Wedding

First new post of 2017, so Happy New Year to everyone checking it out!

Though this wedding was from 2016 it feels like a great start for 2017. In a good way, it was difficult choosing favorites images for this post because it was FULL of great expressions and interesting compositions. As I went back and forth deciding on moments, I kept thinking how everyone's wedding should feel like this. Sharon and Trieu had an amazing day despite the heat and severe thunderstorm that made the day a bit more challenging. You can see in people's faces how much they had fun and enjoyed celebrating w/ Sharon and Trieu. Just another reason we love our job so much.

In case you were wondering, light sabers were Trieu's groomsmen gift.

Stephanie & Jesse | Westin Dulles Wedding

The image above means everything to us. It was one of those moments that reminded us why we love our jobs and are thankful for the opportunity we have to document weddings for our couples.

Aside from the bit of rain that forced the ceremony indoors, their day was full of good energy, emotion and beauty. It also was very relaxed and tons of fun. Stephanie and Jesse are very easy going and have a great sense of humor. Not to mention we watch all the same shows. Though we had only hung out with them two times before the wedding we felt like close friends. When we arrived at the wedding we were warmly welcomed by bridal party, family and guests alike. It made for such an intimate day that was such a pleasure for us to be part.

Magda & Joe - Purceville, Va Wedding

Magda and Joe were married on a gorgeous family farm on one of the few beautiful days we had this Summer.  Their close-knit group warmly welcomed us and shared the full range of laughter, tears, and love, which we are so passionate about documenting.  Though exhausted at the end of the day, we could not resist staying a while to dance at their after-party, poolside with an incredible DJ - Chris Burns.

Cass + Mike | Bluemont Vineyard Wedding

If you've been following our blog you'll notice two Bluemont Vineyard weddings in a row. That's a total but pleasant coincidence. As with our previous couple, Cass and Mike chose this venue because they take care of you on your wedding day and make everything that much easier. Its also stunning

The tone of Cass and Mike's wedding day was relax and have fun. Not that is written in a wedding manifest, just how we felt after spending 10+ hours with them. Everything flowed smoothly, energies were high and pleasant, there was a genuine "feel good" vibe to the day, the bridal party was a blast and the kids were just adorable and funny.  Cass and Mike were also very excited to get married we felt that throughout the day.

Many people have asked about the image above so the answer is yes, its a double exposure, done in camera with the Nikon D750. Shot was taken by Kristiaan.
