Stephanie + Jesse | Herndon Engagement session

Nothing but smiles and sass from these two and we wouldn't have it any other way.  We spent our session between downtown Herndon and Lake Anne just a short drive away. Herndon has a quaint yet familiar vibe to it. There are many little corners to discover and we had a really great time connecting with Steph and Jesse. Our next stop was Lake Anne, an area that they both spent time at when they were younger. Our final stop was Starbucks where they both worked together before becoming an engaged couple. Couldn't have asked for a better session. We topped the evening off with dinner and drinks at Not Your Average Joe's.

Cant wait for their wedding day!!

Kate + James | Iceland wedding

Incredible. Unreal. Beautiful. Connected.

Kristiaan and I spent an incredible six days with Kate and James and their closest of people. We always preach to our couples that the people make the wedding. We are strongly drawn towards moments of meaningful connection on wedding days. We love capturing smiles that crinkle faces, hearty genuine laughs, hugs that look as good as they feel and tender exchanges that make you feel warm on the inside. This group gave us all that and more and would couldnt be more excited to share some of their images with you. 

Icelands visuals were unreal. Sometimes because they were so plain and vast, other times because it was other-worldly. We spent a full day with the group on Iceland Intro - Day Tours guided by the wonderful Gerda. The tour was followed up by a double rehearsal dinner, one for Kate and one for James that included recitals of Beowulf, trivia games, toasts, charades and plenty of hijinks. 

Their wedding day began rather rainy and gloomy but the sky deciding to clear as their ceremony started. We experienced sun, rain, extreme wind and waves that drove us off the beach during portraits.  Those amazing grey vertical rocks you see are from the Black Sand Beach near Vik in the South of Iceland. Though we didnt get to see the Northern lights due to overcast skies every night we did have plenty of time on the wedding day to get a great combo of epic and fun portraits with Kate and James. The evening culminated with a touching series of toasts followed by some epic dancing. We couldnt have asked for anything more, well maybe except the Northern lights :)

Jess & Andy | Glen Echo Park engagement

We don't have many rules on engagement sessions, however we do ask that our couples have fun and be themselves. Jess and Andy did just that! We spent some time at Glen Echo Park chasing light and some making our own. It was nothing but laughs, smiles and great conversation. We then had the pleasure of meeting Jackson, their loving beagle. Things then got more interesting as they changed into their flag football uniforms for some "family" night shots. The night capped off with a lovely dinner Bistro 360.

Zela + Jaymes | Love in Paris

A few months before we left for our amazing Iceland wedding, we connected with Zela and Jaymes in Paris about photographing their engagement session. This was our first time to Paris and we instantly fell in love. The food, the city, its beauty and history won us over! Makes perfect sense why Jaymes moved there to be with Zela. 

Though Kristiaan and I were fighting colds and we had a super overcast day to work with we loved photographing these two and wish we could have spent more time with them. Enjoy some of our favorites below as we navigated through the streets of St. Germain des Prés and areas of La Seine.

Emma + John | Kennedy Center Engagement

We love Emma and John's history because we were there when they met at Ally (her sisters) wedding. Fast forward 3 years and these two are now engaged with their wedding right around the corner. We had a great time chatting and laughing with E&J as we walked around The Kennedy Center grounds and finished our evening off with some yummy pizza and gelato at Campono.

Every year we look forward to June 18 since it Lionels birthday but this year we get twice the fun with their wedding falling on the same date. Cant wait for the day to come!
