Georgina + Dave | Bluemont Vineyard Wedding

Warning, this wedding contains tons of personality!

Georgina and Dave, they dance [competitive ballroom], they laugh [hysterically] and they love [each other] - and their friends do to! They are also incredibly silly and sweet which sounds a lot like us! From their engagement session to the wedding it was very obvious to us that family was very important. It was also important that they wanted their personalities captured without any forced posing which we highly encourage. It was a HOT Memorial Day weekend and but we somehow managed to ignore that fact and simple focus on the high, happy energy from the wedding day.

This was our first time back to Bluemont Vineyard since 2008 and it was such a pleasure to document a wedding and work with the staff there. They take really great care of you there, both as a client and a vendor!

Stephanie & Brian | DAR DC wedding

Why do we love what we do? Because we are not just hired to photograph weddings but also to be artists. Whether its emotional, compositional, journalistic, abstract or simply creative we love that our clients hire us because they trust our vision and our abilities. As I put this set together for the blog I was looking at our images and just appreciated so many different things about them. They are thoughtful and tell the story the way we remembered it.

Stephanie and Brian's wedding was full of emotion throughout the day. It started with nerves from everyone because of the the possibility of rain. There was a collective wanting for Stephanie's brother who was deployed overseas and unable to attend. Though facetime came in handy several times throughout the day at key moments. There were a lot of smiles and happy people. There was joy and friends. Oh and just because we love them so much, we met Stephanie and Brian at Lauren and Dean's wedding a fews years back! And Lauren was the Day-of Coodinator with their good friend Kaycia!

Diana + Monroe | Jefferson Memorial ceremony

From a photographers perspective, most wedding are fairly difficult. Both mentally and physically and we're usually completely exhausted at the end of the day. However, Diana and Monroe proved to us that weddings can be easy. Though their wedding day started early (8am) and we had a wedding the night before (something we never do) we happily and effortlessly cruised through their day while they smiled, laughed and celebrated with a very intimate crowd of about 25. The shared exchanges of joy were endless, the weather was perfect and their day ran like a well oiled machine thanks to the team of Taylor and Hov.

Kristiaan and I went our separate ways during getting ready. Her with Diana at the Mayflower, me with Monroe at his home. We reunited at the ceremony on the lawn of the Jefferson Memorial for an emotional reunion as Diana walked down the aisle. Brunch was at the Hay Adams and absolutely delicious and filled with much excitement and more good laughs. Afterwards we headed to the US Capitol for some more portraits to cap off the day.

Ashley + James | Atlantis Resort Bahamas Wedding

Oh Bahamas, you were good to us. You gave us perfect weather, good laughs, phenomenal moments, epic dancing, crazy dancing and pigs, yes pigs.

Kristiaan and I arrived in Bahamas a few days before the wedding and to spend quality time with Ashley, James and all their guests by the pool, on the beach and evening events. We got a really great sense of the friendships and love between everyone and made some new friends along the way. The entire week was simply perfect hugely in part of Lindsey of Highland Avenue Planning & Design. She is amazing as a planner, but even more as a person! Big thanks to her and Kelley Cannon for making it so great!

We absolutely loved everything about their wedding day as it was filled with simple sweet moments and good fun. Though it was hot, we were lucky to have some good cloud cover that gave us a beautiful soft light, yet the sun would peek out at the right times. Ashley was purely elegant and James was the definition of distinguished. Their ceremony was emotional yet funny and light hearted. We had a blast running through the sand across the beach with little time to get portraits, but seriously Ashley's veil was to die for. Dinner and toasts were super sweet and the dancing was nothing short of amazing. It started really well for the reception and then the dancing got somewhat wild. After a short time it was on to the after party with an beautiful custom ice luge, some serious tunes by DJ Furze and some of the most fun dancing we've had in years. I mean serious sweat, getting low and plenty of friskiness.

A few days later we were lucky enough to be invited on a boat trip with Ashley and James to a small private island that had its own pigs...that swim in the ocean! It was something to experience and appreciate and we loved every moment and are so thankful to have had the opportunity.

Love you guys Ashley and James XOXO!
